To create intrigue and add a touch of drama to the evening hours, we employed various lighting techniques throughout the landscape. Focal points such as hardscapes, trees, and hedges were accentuated with carefully positioned lighting. Moonlighting, a technique that involves placing light sources high up in trees, cast a gentle, dappled glow on the ground below, revealing hidden textures and contours. In gathering spaces and lower gardens, tree-mounted downlights illuminated pathways, flowering perennials, and other plantings, showcasing their vibrant colors.
Our team strategically integrated up-lighting to create captivating visual effects. By angling fixtures to highlight trees and plantings, we added depth and drama to the landscape. A majestic Japanese Maple tree and a blooming Red Bud tree, adorned with purple blossoms of spring, were brought to life through carefully placed ground-level fixtures. Overcoming the challenge of illuminating the natural stone waterfall of the swimming pool, we discreetly installed a small hanging fixture from a nearby Weeping Atlas Cedar, accentuating the cascading water element.
